Panhandle Mary Jane
David Alley & The Brass Tacks
A fun Texas Country Song featuring David Alley vocals and Flugelhorn solo.
This track is the vocal version of "Panhandle Mary Jane", originally released as an instrumental in 2018 on the "My Life's A Musical" CD by David Alley and the Brass Tacks. It's a fun Texas county song featuring David Alley lead and background vocals, a Flugelhorn solo by David, and some very fine Pedal Steel playing by Larry White. The song was written by David's two good friends John Lenox (RIP) and LLoyd Schwartz in the mid-seventies. John is actually playing the keyboards on this track, since the rhythm track was cut when the song was written. Cubby O'Brien is on the drums. Unfortunately, the names of the fabulous guitar players are not known. The track was Produced and Mixed by David Alley, Mastered by Pete Doell at AfterMaster (Los Angeles).

My Life's a Musical
David Alley & The Brass Tacks
A tribute to the music of John Lenox and Lloyd Schwartz.
This collection of songs written by John Lenox and Lloyd Schwartz has been a labor of love and long overdue. It’s been thirty plus years since John, Lloyd, and myself worked on the demos for this body of work, and only recently did it occur to me to honor my friends by turning them into mostly instrumentals featuring the Flugelhorn. Since we had originally done the demos with a number of singers, I felt it would be a nice touch to bring this body of work together as an instrumental CD. Thanks to John (RIP) and Lloyd for the wonderful songs. It was a blast putting this together.
